AbstractWe present a coordination approach to enterprise integration which supports the dynamic nature of enterprises. Integration is achieved through the coordination of tasks according to inter-system dependencies stored in a coordination repository. These inter-system dependencies are represented by a metadata model which describes subsystems, system-wide data consistency constraints and rules for update propagation. The approach retains a maximum level of subsystem autonomy by performing the minimum level of integration necessary for task coordination. Further, the declarative specification of inter-system dependencies in the coordination repository makes them amenable to query and update. Consequently, subsystems can be added and upgraded with relative ease thereby supporting the evolution of enterprises and the integration process.
