Decision Support Systems in Banking

Since the beginning of the eighties, new banking products and instruments have arrived at a high pace. This has made it impossible to maintain expertise on all products and services in each individual branch. Business know-how has been transferred from the branches to the corporate centre. In order to obtain an overview of the business, it has been necessary to introduce decision support systems built on data warehouse technology. This talk will discuss the most important applications of data warehousing within a large bank. It will cover problems in yesterdays data warhouse infrastructure and what are the promises of the future. It will present trends in current end-to-end vendor solutions.
